Our Staff

Dr. Linda Carter, Veterinarian

Linda is a 2002 Ontario Veterinary College graduate.  She has always loved all animals and is thrilled to be able to open Carter Veterinary Hospital.  Linda lives with her husband, James, their three non furry children (Cameron, Zackary and Kayley) and their eight furry children (including the adorable Chloe, featured here)!  She loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, from meeting cute and adorable new friends, to helping solve challenging cases.  Linda especially loves to do second opinions (for difficult cases), dentistry and surgery.

Dr. Lindsay Freeburn, Veterinarian

Lindsay completed her degree in Genetics from the University of Western Ontario before graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2009.  Her interest in veterinary medicine started at a very young age, as she began working and volunteering at veterinary clinics at age 12 and has never looked back.  These early experiences only solidified her love for pets and the veterinary profession and she could not imagine a more rewarding career.   Lindsay has worked at a small animal clinic locally since graduation and is thrilled to be able to provide outstanding care for pets and their families in the community where she calls home.  Her special interests include surgery, reproduction, integrative medicine and promoting the human-animal bond.  When not caring for your furry family member, Lindsay enjoys outdoor sports activities, doing crafts with her kids and cuddle time with her family.

Ariah Proulx, RVT

Ariah is a 2015 graduate from the Veterinary Technology program at St. Lawrence College. She wrote and passed her VTNE exam and received her RVT status from the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians the same year. She has been surrounded by animals her entire life, and couldn’t imagine working in any other field.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, gardening and weekends away at the cottage. She shares her life with her partner, Eric and three fur babies - Moose, a Golden Retriever, Hadley an Australian Shepherd, and kitty Steve.

Lauren Collins, RVT

Lauren is a 2001 graduate from the Veterinary Technician program at Northern College.  She wrote and passed her registration exam in that same year.  Lauren has worked in small animal practices in the area for the past 15 years.  She has a particular interest in animal behavior and rehabilitation, but enjoys all aspects of the job.

When not at work, Lauren enjoys spending time at the trailer with her husband and two children (Noah & Nevaeh) and two boxers (Newman & Sam).  Lauren also shares her home with three adorable guinea pigs (Squiggy, Ninja & Noosh).  Although life in her house is pretty hectic most days, she tries to squeeze in a little fitness, reading and photography when she can.

Lauren is looking forward to meeting all the patients (and their parents) as well as advancing her knowledge of pocket pets, avians and reptiles.

Deborah Muise, Receptionist

Deborah is thrilled to have joined the amazing staff at Carter's.  Having worked in the veterinary medicine field for over 10 years, she brings a genuine love for animals and a strong commitment to excellent customer service to the team.

When Deb isn't busy hiking with her Standard Poodle, Apple, she is busy back country camping, running and obstacle course racing, and traveling the world.  She adores her four grand children who live abroad, so many of her trips involve visiting them.

Deborah is also a Search & Rescue technician and an Adventure Smart presenter, which fits in very well with her active outdoor lifestyle.

Deb looks forward to meeting all of the clients and patients at Carter Veterinary Hospital.  Please don't hesitate to call and speak with her, as she is always happy to help.

Natalie McHugh, Receptionist

Natalie has always had a love for animals! Growing up in rural Kingston, ON, offered plenty of opportunities to experience wildlife, livestock and domestics. It was not uncommon for her to bring home a new friend after adventuring in the fields near her house. Having dogs and cats for most of her life, it was only natural for Natalie to get her Animal Care Specialist Diploma in order to be the best Fur-Mom she could be. Natalie is currently mom to three humans and three dogs and loving every minute of it!
